Camps

The Sacramento Adventure Playground is excited to present a Spring Camp and ten Summer Camp programs in 2023!

Adventure Summer Camps for Ages 6 – 15

3-24-23. CAMPS ARE FILLING UP! Some camps are Waitlist only, or age restricted. Updates can be found on the below individual camp webpage, but may not be current. You can find the current status of a camp by looking at the online registration. If a camp is getting close to filling it will list ‘Only X spots left’.

We view the keys to youth learning are keeping it simple and making it fun. There is a lot of science, engineering, and art (STEAM) behind our enrichment activities, but we have an emphasis to keep it at an understandable kid level. One that they can relate to by using common and/or simple materials. We do not want them to build a “pretty robot” that amounts to plugging in factory ordered parts, but rather use a couple of factory parts surrounded by recognizable materials, such as cardboard and hot glue. Our second module is called ‘Physical Play’, as physical exercise should be fun for kids.  Our goal is to have the kids exercising without realizing what they are doing is ‘exercise’. Many of these physical games we play have an element of thought and teamwork woven into it.  These types of elements are often found in corporate job training/enhancement conferences to encourage teamwork and out-of-the-box thinking.  Our third element is PLAY! This is what we do, what we are advocates for. Research clearly shows play enhances social and academic abilities – besides just being fun to do.

Extended care is available, including free programming and lunches. See below for details including detailed listing of the daily activities for each camp.

  • TIPS
  • No online fees when paying in person, or mail-in ($10-$15 savings per camp). If you’re concerned the camp is getting full, you can check the online registration. If it’s getting close to capacity it will say how many spots are left.
  • As camps get near capacity, last slots can be limited to certain ages only.
  • Any Before/After Care can be purchased close to the camp when you are sure what your schedule is. Campers are guaranteed a spot, you can pay by day if you want to.
  • Do not buy the Active Refund Guarantee. This is NOT part of our programming. It is not a good buy.
  • Look at the All Day Camp Care Matrix (below) to understand what is being offered from 7:45-6:30pm each day, including free programming.

Space is limited.

NEW FOR 2023

  • 3 More Summer Camps, Now with a continuous offering all summer! Starting one week earlier (June 12-16), no mid-summer closure (a Camp now for July10-14) and end one week later (Aug. 18).
  • By popular demand a 3rd Fort Camp has been added! The 3 Fort Camps will have a similar build, but now surrounding enrichments and physical play will have different elements, allowing any repeat campers to learn something new.
  • Many new enrichments and physical play activities for returning camps.

Age Appropriateness
Ages 6-15 (most campers are ages 6-12). Camps are designed for a wide age range with the enrichments allowing a great deal of freedom for campers to enjoy success at their own age level. A younger’s child science project could lean more towards an art project whereas an older camper will have the ability to create a more sophisticated build. Campers will be divided into age groups. Campers will at times be working independently and need sufficient maturity and skill level to accomplish an activity and to abide by all Playground rules.

Groups
Campers will be divided into age groups and remain with that groups for Camp entirety.

Food and Drink
Each camp will have the ever-popular snow cones.  Campers are to bring their own water bottle (refills available).  For any stay overs, additional brought snacks and/or lunches are encouraged (free lunches may be available from La Familia – see above). Any after camp provided snacks are based upon donations received.

Certificates and Take Homes
Campers will make their own theme-based camp certificates. Most days campers will have made items to share with parents on pick-up,

Testimonies
This is the only camp he asks to go to.” Parent

He’s grown so much” in just a week. Camp parent remarking on the success the adventure program has had on her son. Parent

“I love this! Thank you so much for teaching us how to make stuff!” Camper

My kids went to the Adventure Playground Camp yesterday for the first time and wow, they want to move in!  Parent

Coming to free play days & the themed summer camps are some of my child’s favorite things to do – none of the other summer camps he’s been at have really engaged him or excited him as much as those at Sacramento Adventure Playground.  He comes home tired and exited to tell us what he did. Parent

I was soooo happy when I found out I could go.  We thought the camp was full, but then we got the call and I was jumping up and down!  We were really excited for this camp because we love making things and building, and putting things together. Camper
